Interestingly, the decrease in the scope and grandeur of my holiday plans as Christmas approaches closely parallels a similar decrease in my life plans as adulthood approaches. Yeah sure, some people might say that a 28-year-old is already an adult with a comfortable margin. Those people are assholes, don't listen to them.

Anyway, my excitement level for my holiday plans has decreased with the distance I'll be travelling. But there's been a strange upturn at the end as I realized there's nothing more stressful then obligatory travel over the holidays to visit relatives that you haven't seen or talked to for exactly one year. And the kids. Oh man, the kids. Sure seeing their eyes light up at the sight of presents may be fantastic but is it really worth being woken up at 6am on Christmas morning, still drunk and wanting nothing more than some sleep? I don't know. I'll be more than happy to hang out with friends and my Charlie Brown Christmas tree. And yes, Dwarves and Draenei controlled by immature 30-something comic book store owners in California count as friends. I'll be there in a few years anyway...
